When you started learning how to bike, the most basic part was getting the balance. The moment you learned how to balance everything fell into their sweet places. The same is true when you look at food and eating. Carefully balancing the food you eat and the amount of food you consume is very important so your body can run smoothly and efficiently.

 

10 Tips to a Healthy Lifestyle for Kids

 

1. Have fun when eating. This does not mean for you to play while you eat but it just means you can have fun sharing the meal with family and friends whether at home or school. Check out what your friends are eating and see whether you can spot fruits and vegetables.

 

2. Do not skip breakfast ever. The most important meal of the day is breakfast. It serves as your fuel after your body has gone through the night’s sleep when your body is running low on energy the next morning. Therefore, do not miss out a hearty breakfast ever.

 

3. Try out different foods daily. A variety of healthy recipes are available packed with nutrients. Since you cannot get all nutrients in one type of food, mixing and matching your food consumption on a daily basis is good for the health.

 

4. Check your preferences. If you’re worried you are consuming too much carbohydrate, check out your preferences and see whether you are eating most of it the entire week and cut down accordingly. But, do not remove carbohydrate from your diet – make sure you include one daily.

 

5. Get at least five servings of fruits and vegetables every day. Fruits and vegetables are very important sources of vitamins, fiber and minerals. At least five servings of this group daily is a very healthy practice.

 

6. Cut down on fat consumption. Consuming too much fat is definitely not go for the health such as fried meats, sausages, pastries, pies and fried potatoes, just to name a few. Go easy on them since it is better that you eat less of this type of food. However, if you consume a high-fat meal, make sure that the next meals are non-fat.

 

7. Choose different types of snacks. You will eat three regular meals in a day – breakfast, lunch and dinner but throwing in a little snack in between wouldn’t hurt for as long as you are not overdoing it. You can have a yogurt, fresh or dried fruits, vegetable sticks, crackers or fruit loaf. You may have chocolate bars, cake or biscuits but avoid having too much of the sweets.

 

8. Always rehydrate and drink plenty of fluids. More than half of your body weight is only water therefore it is important to always rehydrate and drink plenty of fluids to maintain. You need to drink at least five glasses of water every day but if the weather is hot and you are losing more fluid than you take in make sure you drink plenty to replenish what you lost.

 

9. Always be mindful of your dental and oral health. You should brush your teeth at least twice daily and avoid eating too much starchy or sugary food. After you have brushed your teeth for bedtime, do not eat any more food or drink anything other than water.

 

10. Practice an active lifestyle. Your muscles and bones need to exercise in order for them to function more efficiently. Activities that will keep your heart on a steady beat and your bones strong are healthy for you. Simple walking or climbing up and down the stairs is activities you could try out. If you have time, you can go out for swimming.
